By Edward Bond
Directed by Robert Woodruff

Following its triumph last year with Adrienne Kennedy's Ohio State Murders, which made The New York Times critic's 10 Best List, was recognized by the Lortels and won Obie Awards for its author and lead actress, Theatre for a New Audience will continue its tradition of producing the best contemporary drama with Chair, a riveting play by one of England's leading playwrights, Edward Bond.

In Chair, Edward Bond explores theatricality in an austere and concentrated way without embellishment or decoration. Mr. Bond envisions a haunting Orwellian world in which security is more important than freedom.

Stephanie Roth Haberle plays Alice, whose single kindly gesture of bringing a chair to a soldier waiting for a bus leads to the unimaginable.

Several years ago, Theatre for a New Audience produced the acclaimed production of Edward Bond’s Saved, directed by Robert Woodruff (former Artistic Director of the American Repertory Theatre). Chair reunites Mr. Bond and Mr. Woodruff.

Running Time: 60 minutes, with no intermission

Age Recommendation: TBA

Cast: Stephanie Roth Haberle, Will Rogers, Alfredo Narciso, Annika Boras, Joan Macintosh

From the company who brought the sold-out hit The Shape of a Girl to the New Vic in 2005, CRANKED is an eye-opening and compelling look at lost dreams and unrealized ambitions. With intense spoken word, edgy hip-hop flair and pulsing rhythms from a live DJ, the artistic and inventive CRANKED shares the story of Stan's spiraling descent into crystal meth addiction. Starring one-man phenomenon Kyle Cameron, CRANKED induces "raging applause, tears of understanding, hoots of approval, and standing ovations" (The Vancouver Province). More than "Just Say No," CRANKED is an award-winning theatrical depiction of a frightening new epidemic.

"This is a show that not only walks the walk, but talks the talk …Mad props." – The Toronto Star

The Queen of Colors

Full of kaleidoscopic wonder and vivid imagination, THE QUEEN OF COLORS is a whimsical story about unleashing creativity and choosing not to "color within the lines." Based on the children's book by German author Jutta Bauer and accompanied by a "Court Musician," THE QUEEN OF COLORS is a pageant of ingenious puppetry and live illustrations that literally jump from the page. As we watch the feisty little queen bobble about, we learn that while fun comes in all the shades of the rainbow, too much of a good thing can turn into a mucky, yucky mess. Winners of the Children's Jury Award at the International Puppet Theater Festival (Synergura, 2002), ETE makes its U.S. debut with a show that bubbles with sweet humor and colorful energy.

"Erfreuliches Theater provides a magnificent multilayered, multimedia show that educates and entertains." – The Star Phoenix (Canada)
